AERIAL CLASSES

Aerial Fitness

Level: All Levels Prerequisites: None
Aerial fitness uses a variety of aerial tools with a focus on strengthening and stretching to prepare the body for more advanced aerial work. If you like an intense workout, this is the class for you! Key words are: core strength.

Aerial Yoga

Level: All Levels Prerequisites: None
This class combines elements of aerial silks, yoga and dance to gently strengthen and stretch the body. This low impact class will leave you feeling longer and stronger.

Circus Kids

Level: All Levels, Ages 8-12 Prerequisites: None
Circus classes for kids ages 8 and up. Our kids’ class explores all elements of circus arts studied at S-Connection Aerial Arts. From hula hoop, to silks, to trapeze, to partner work, students work on a variety of skills and our key word is FUN! Students are always invited to participate in annual performances, where they can focus on their favorite apparatus.

Intro to Aerial

Level: Beginner Prerequisites: None
This class combines elements of aerial silks, trapeze, pole, lyra and tumble track for an introduction to basic skills required for more advanced work on each apparatus. Class is designed for complete beginners.

Intro to Pole

Learn the fundamentals of pole dance with this introductory class. Perfect for first time pole dancers. Focus on proper technique and approaches to climbs and spins.

Mixed Apparatus

Level: Beginner/Intermediate Prerequisites: Intro to Aerial

Mixed Apparatus focuses on fundamental skills not addressed in the intro classes, to take students to the next level in their training. This class is also important for more advanced students to maintain proper technique and conditioning. Strong beginners may join the class, but will not be given assistance with intro material, i.e. basic climbs or foot knot (silks), up/down on bars & other beginner positions (trapeze & lyra).

Ninja Fitness

Level: All Levels

Train to be a ninja warrior with Ninja Fitness. Swing, climb, hang and leap your way to strength and coordination. This course is only offered in the summer, so get it while it’s hot!

Pole Art

Level: All Levels Pole Fitness and/or Intro to Aerial recommended first.
This class works exclusively on the pole, and incorporates a variety of holds and spins. Leave class with a sassy piece of choreography incorporating the moves you learned. This class trains the same choreography for a month at a time, as you build and refine. Bring your heels on the last Saturday of the month to practice choreography with shoes (optional).

Pole Fitness

Level: All Levels Prerequisites: None
This class focuses on the strength and flexibility required for more advanced skills on the pole.

Silks

Level: Beginner/Intermediate

Level: Intermediate / Advanced

Intro to aerial recommended first, but you do not have to pass check-out to take this class.

Prerequisites: Intro to Aerial – Checkout (Int)  / Mixed Apparatus (Adv only)

This class works exclusively on aerial silks. Beg/Int Silks refines foundations from intro to aerial, while exploring intro level combinations and some intermediate moves. Int/Adv Silks explores intermediate to advanced climbs, drops and combinations. Strong focus on choreographed routines & stamina.

Trapeze & Lyra 

Level: Beginner / Intermediate

Level: Intermediate / Advanced

Intro to aerial recommended first, but you do not have to pass check-out to take this class.

Prerequisites: Intro to Aerial – Checkout  (Int) / Mixed Apparatus (ADV only)

This class works exclusively on the trapeze and lyra. Beg/Int Trapeze & Lyra refines foundations from intro to aerial, while exploring intro level combinations and some intermediate moves. Int/Adv Trapeze & Lyra  explores movements that are translatable between each apparatus, as well as work specific to each. Strong focus on choreographed routines & stamina. Must have instructor permission to take this class.

Flying Trapeze

NON-AERIAL CLASSES

Ballet

Level: All Levels Prerequisites: None
This class uses classical ballet technique set to an eclectic mix of pop and world music. With a focus on posture and musicality, this class provides a fun workout for those seeking to expand their fitness repertoire, and assist aerialists with dance technique in their aerial routines.

Circus Prep

Level: All Levels, Ages 5-7 Prerequisites: None
This kids’ class prepares young acrobats for aerial dance.  With a foundation in ballet and gymnastics, kids gain balance and coordination necessary for work in the air. Ages 5-8.

Flexibility

Level: All Levels Prerequisites: None
This class is great for aerialists and non-aerialists alike! Learn techniques to warm and prepare specific muscle groups for deep stretches. Some intro level contortion exercises for those bodies that are ready!

Handbalancing 101

Level: All Levels Prerequisites: None
Learn everything you need to develop a straight, stable, freestanding handstand in a clear step by step manner. Class covers many different skills and drills for participants to take home and build a solid foundation for freestanding handstand development.

Partner Acro

Level: All Levels Prerequisites: None
Partner Acro combines elements of acro-yoga and traditional cirque-style hand-to-hand balancing. No partner required.

Sambarobics

Level 1: All Levels

Level 2:

Prerequisites: Level 1 (Saturdays – None)

Level 2 (Tuesdays – must know samba basic step)

Upbeat & sassy dance fitness class using Brazilian samba. Sweat it out with samba styling! Tuesday night is choreography-based, bring your dance heels if you want! Be sure to visit Saturday samba first to get the basic samba step down before coming to Tuesday night!

Stilleto

Level: All Levels

Move like a music video vixen with this fun dance class. Bring your heels (any size) or not, just come dance!

Tumbling

Level: All Levels Prerequisites: None
This class focuses on the fundamentals of tumbling, from your basic cartwheel to round-off back hand spring, back tuck. A great way to master the basics of floor skills and conditioning for the experienced tumblers.

West African Dance

Level: All Levels Prerequisites: None
This high energy dance class focuses on traditional West African Dance movements originating from Ivory Coast and other surrounding countries of West Africa! Beginner, Intermediate and All levels are welcome! Music is provided by live drummers.

Open Gym / Open Pole

Level: Intermediate / Advanced Prerequisites: Instructor Approval
Open Gym users must be current students or aerial professionals. Please request permission if you are a beginner student. No first timers. Open gym users must train skills at their level. Instructors / gym monitors maintain the right to ask anyone to desist attempting any move for which they feel the student is ill-prepared. No student teaching. Any work above 5′ must use a crash mat. Open gym users must respect any class that occurs simultaneously, working around the students participating in class. Check with the instructor about changing the arrangement of equipment if you are doing so while a full class is going on.
